CLOSING WEEK PROGRAM OF EVENTS

This is our last week at the PM in Collingwood. We can’t believe it! Can you? It’s ridiculous how much time can truly fly. We have already announced our closing week of events, but we thought we would put it all in to the one post – so there is no confusion. This Wednesday night we are hosting The Last Supper, presented by Michael Fox and Matt Forbes. They will be serving up entrees, mains & desserts for a healthy $40. We will have fire pits and heaters – the perfect combination with food, to keep you all warm on a public holiday eve. Tickets can be purchased here.

We will be giving away free booze on Thursday so get down to the market and enjoy free beer, and live art installations by Steen & Ruskidd. The art will be auctioned off to their selected charities at the end of the day, also. Friday night, we will be having the last ever happy hour, with a special performance by Dr. Piffle and the Burlap Band.

Saturday the 26th of April is our last market day. We have a whole heap of vendors, and we a bringing back the foodie favourites, Phat Brats, Paperboy, Dona Tona, and the Melt Shop. It’s “Taste of the PM’, so come down with empty stomachs and full wallets. We thinks you’ll need it. Forecast is predicting 25 degrees and sun, perfect PM weather.

Then there is Sunday. Our big grand finale. We have Client Liaison, Daniel Merriweather, Airwolf, Clubfeet DJ’s, and a whole lot more ready to perform your socks off. Oh yeh, and we’re closing down the street. #streetparty

THE LAST SUPPER – ANZAC DAY EVE

Join us in saying goodbye to the PM, at The Last Supper, on Anzac Day Eve. We have put together a delectable feast for all of our fans, prepared by award winning Michael Fox, and Matt Forbes, it is sure to not disappoint. We will be offering Entree + Main + Dessert + Wine for the just $40, along with two menu options for vegetarians, and there meat eating counterparts.

We are lucky to have sampled this food goodness already, so we’re excited for you to sink your teeth into whats on offer. Here is a look at the evenings menu:

Entrée Prepared by Michael Fox

Option 1 – BBQ Calamari, Cauliflower, Chickpeas, Preserved Lemon Aioli

Option 2 – Grilled Eggplant Rolled with Eggplant, Feta, Mint Chutney

Mains Prepared by Michael Fox

Option 1 – Red Miso Braised Pork Belly, Corn Purée, Grilled Spring Onion

Option 2 – Roasted Zucchini, Goats Cheese, Almond, Parsley Salad

Dessert Prepared by Matthew Forbes

Jarred, Geranium Panna Cotta, Fresh Apple, Lychee Bits and Pieces

Tickets can be purchased through our website in advance, here or on the door on the night. They are subject to availability so be sure to buy in advance so that we don’t turn you away on the night. We will have fire pits to keep you warm, along with gas heaters and additional undercover areas so that the rain can’t dampened the evenings festivities. It’s set to be the perfect Autumn Warmer activity, and a special treat to farewell the space after a magical summer.

A little bit of background information on Michael Fox

Michael Fox, winner of the 2011 ‘The Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year’ award. He has professional experience that spans Australian states and abroad. Michael completed his apprenticeship at Mount Lofty House in Adelaide. He then moved to England where he spent two years at Raymond Blanc’s Two Michelin Star restaurant, Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons. More recently Michael has worked as a Sous Chef at Melbourne synonymous hatted restaurants Vue de Monde and Cecconi’s Cantina.

Michael’s first Head Chef position was for Paul Mathis at Henry & the Fox. He held this position for 1 year before moving on to pursue a new project. In 2012, Michael was awarded runner up in the ‘Electrolux Appetite for Excellence’ program.

Our Grand Finale

It’s hard to believe that another season of the People’s Market is coming to an end. We don’t want to leave our home in Collingwood, but all good things come to an end. April 28th will be our last day at Stanley Street, and we won’t be returning to the car lot for another season (apartments are being built, sadly).

We want to leave with a BANG! so we have put together a whole bunch of activities for the final week of the market. Starting from Wednesday the 24th of April, right through to the 28th, there will be something on at the PM. Last supper tickets will be available online for presale, and performances for Sunday will be announced this week. STAY TUNED & GET EXCITED. Officially one last hoorah before we’re gone forever from Collingwood.

Artist practise:

Her art practise is based on observing and projecting youth culture through the use of lo-fi media. Her scavenger like tendencies have rewarded her with a constant flow of ready made materials from second hand fabrics to photographs and magazine clippings. Within her practice her work is fuelled by her observations and re-interpretations of symbols and more specifically brands and images that have woven themselves into the identity of current pop culture. Winship is interested in the life of these symbols, the evolution of their connotations and the mediums in which they present themselves. Through her appropriation of these symbols she invites the audience to place their own values onto her art. Furthermore it opens up the discussion around the aestheticisation of such imagery and their use amongst tangible materials. www.launawinship.com
