More About The Toot Toot Toots:

Forming in 2009 at a bar on the spur of the moment, The Toot Toot Toots have developed a solid reputation for their unique country blues sound and their frenetic and hyper-energetic live shows. The Toot Toot Toots explore the sounds of 60’s spaghetti-westerns, the lyricism of Tom Waits, and the theatricality of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Their shows are a dynamo-flamboyant, hyper-rowdy carouse complete with horn section and go-go dancers. The Toots will also be performing at the 2012 Meredith Music Festival.

“By intertwining the complexity with catchy melodies, big hooks, hilarity, and spectacle they invite people in, and the fictional characters they create are vividly embodied on stage, so that we feel their stories as something real and powerful, rather than as a conceit.”

More About Miles:

Thereminist Miles Brown cut his musical teeth in the experimental art / rock scene in Melbourne, Australia.

In 2009 Brown received an Australia Council grant to undertake a two month theremin mentorship in Oxford, UK, with Lydia Kavina, the world’s leading classical thereminist, and grand-niece of Leon Theremin, the inventor of the instrument. Following this study, Brown performed with Kavina at the “Without Touch” Theremin Festival in Lippstadt, Germany.

With his band The Night Terrors, Brown has explored the theremin as a lead instrument in a rock scenario, releasing three albums and touring through Europe and Australia extensively, supporting the likes of Hawkwind, Melt-Banana, Serena Maneesh, Black Mountain. The Night Terrors were invited by Lou Reed to perform at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Vivid Live festival, co-curated with Laurie Anderson in May 2010. This performance culminated in Brown jamming onstage with Reed, Anderson, Marc Ribot, Oren Ambarchi and members of Melt-Banana, Bardo Pond and Zond.

In 2012 The Night Terrors were comissioned to compose a 45 minute piece for theremin, synth, drums and Melbourne Town Hall’s Grand Pipe Organ, which they performed on the bill with Italian soundtrack legends Goblin as part of Melbourne Music Week.

Brown has performed onstage with Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Marc Ribot, Black Mountain, Bardo Pond, Dan Kelly & the Alpha Males, and has appeared at Australian festivals Big Day Out, Melbourne Festival, Adelaide Festival, Falls Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Homebake, High Vibes, Festival of the Sun, Melbourne Fringe, Melbourne Music Week and St. Kilda Festival and international festivals Polyhymnia 2011 (Germany), Incubate 2010 (NL), Bracara Extreme 2010 (Portugal), Denovali Swingfest 2010 (Germany).

Brown also produces remixes under The Night Terrors moniker.
